So here it is finally, my Make Nine for 2019. It was a really sobering experience putting this together as I realised I just don’t have anywhere close to enough time to achieve everything I want to this year. So here are my priorities:
- crochet a cat from a kit I’ve had for over a year. I’m planning on learning to crochet from Bluprint which I finally joined this year.
- finish knitting my Flax Light jumper, a free pattern from Tin Can Knits that I started 2 years ago. It’s for my daughter and will probably be too small by the time I finish!
- sew something vintage: I have many vintage patterns but I also love this vintage inspired Butterick 5846.
- sew with sweater knit: Some potential patterns are the Itch to Stitch Medellin Top*, New Look 6045 Cowl Neck Sweater (vintage) or possibly the free Yoko by Jalie.
- sew a unique mash up from Breaking the Pattern* by Named.
- sew a pair of jeans: I like McCall’s 7547* for dungarees and the Eleonore Pull on Jeans by Jalie.
- upcycle a charity shop find into the Mimi G Jessica a la Trish Stitched.
- sew a backpack from the Ellie Inspired Bookworm Backpack pattern I’ve owned forever.
- sew a winter jacket: I’ve got some amazing toffee brown wool fabric from Flamingo Fabrics to make into Butterick 6497*.
Other things I hope to squeeze in:
- 1. Hoodies: Jalie Hoodie 2795, DIBY Babe Hoodie*, Hey June Halifax Hoodie*.
- 2. The Charlie bomber jacket by Jalie.
- 3. Bras: the Watson Bra, Merckwaerdigh BHS10 Bra*, and Ohhh Lulu Jasmine Bra*.
- 4. Another pair of Greenstyle Brassies*.
- 5. Tights, yes tights! with Jalie 3027.
- 6. A winter skirt.
- 7. Summer dresses: Striped Swallow Designs Summer Dawn Wrap Dress* and Named Kielo.
- 8. PJs: if I want a quick win I’ll make Kwik Sew 3553*, otherwise for piping fun I’ll make Simplicity 1504*, and for summer it will be the Tilly and the Buttons FIFI.
- 9. Clothes for E: Stitch Upon a Time Neverland Tee*, Jalie Leggings, Patterns for Pirates Me Hearties dress, underwear* and socks.
- 10. And finally, knit a pair of socks!
As always my ongoing goals are to:
- 1. buy NO new patterns and sew only my stash unless I don’t already own a fabric type required by a specific pattern.
- 2. continue my rtw clothing fast, excluding pre-loved.
